From start to finish, it takes only about two weeks! All you need to add is a bag of sugar, and water.

Castlemaine XXXX is one of the famous Australian beers. In 1878 the Castlemaine Brewery, formed by brothers Nicholas and Paddy Fitzgerald, arrived in Brisbane and started brewing on the famous Milton site. The first brew was known as XXX Castlemaine Sparkling Ale, and was described by the Brisbane Courier as 'a delicious ale of the brightest amber, pleasant to taste, with a peculiarity of flavour not easily described, and an aroma of an appetising nature...'

1928 welcomed the launch of XXXX Bitter, and the start of the great XXXX tradition.

The kit includes:

• 5-gallon fermentation bin with lid (to make the brew)
• Hydrometer (to test when it's ready to bottle)
• Long reach stirrer (most household utensils aren't long enough!)
• Syphon tube (to get the beer from bin to bottles)
• Sterilising powder (to get everything really clean)
• 20 x 1 litre plastic re-usable bottles (with screw caps)
• Genuine Castlemaine XXXX Gold Lager concentrate - to make 40 pints
